Gifts/Pledges - Giving Units
Giving Units, or Donors, are used to group gifts given for tax deductible receipts or statements. We recommend separating gifts given by the name on the check or gift as the giving unit. If the gift is from a joint account, the giving unit should be a joint giving unit. If not, the giving unit should be the individual or organization only. The type of Giving Unit can be H - Household, which links one or more people from the Names/Addresses list to a giving unit, O - Organization, which can also link people from the Names/Addresses list to a giving unit, and M - Miscellaneous, which is intended for non-attender types of gifts, such as gifts from friends or relatives to a mission trip, and is not linked to people from the Names/Addresses list.
The "Select A Giving Unit" screen shows all of the existing Giving Units, which you can update if their address has changed, or you can click the (Add) button for a new Giving Unit. Use the checkboxes on the top, right to filter the list, or sort the names by Envelope Number for those using giving envelopes. Use the (Merge) button to merge two or more giving units when you notice someone is listed more than once.
The "Update A Giving Unit's Name/Address" screen shows fields related to the Giving Unit, including the Household ID (HID) and address. If the Giving Unit Type is H - Household, it will also link to one or two names in the Names/Addresses list. If the Giving Unit Type is O - Organization, you can also link people from the Names/Addresses list to a giving unit.
The "Totals By Year/Category" screen shows totals for all of the Giving Unit's giving information, by Year/Gift Category (Fund).
The "Giving Detail Vs. Pledge" screen shows detail gifts given or pledged for a Year/Gift Category (Fund) combination.
The "xxxxx Pledge vs. Actual By Month For: yyyyy" screen shows totals of gifts given or pledged by month for a Gift Category (Fund).
